Being a Grandma

Spending the night in ‘Silly Land’!

From the day I watched my first grandchild being born I have adored being a grandma. There really isn’t anything quite like it. You get the best of both worlds…you can enjoy the time with them thoroughly without all the pain, sleepless nights and endless work to raise a child. Because you have only a limited amount of time each time you see them, you can put alot more energy and effort into that precious time.

Also, because you do only have limited time together, usually they see you at your best, and view you how you intend to be, not living with you 24/7 and learning the parts of you you don’t like being. Don’t get me wrong, I loved raising my children, and there was nothing that I would rather have done in those years. However, the mother I ended up being due the strain and worries I didn’t learn until later to put behind me was not always the mother I wanted to be. At that time, when mothering every day was taken for granted, I saw things much differently. If I could’ve seen or realized just how fast this time would fly by, I hope I would’ve treasured that time much, much more.

Selah. No more would’ve, could’ve, should’ve’s… what is behind me is behind me, but that is why I have determined to completely, thoroughly and absolutely enjoy my grandchildren, and hopefully leave them with memories that will bless them for a lifetime. I know that I couldn’t do it without God’s enablement, but it has become the desire of my heart!
