You may have noticed I’ve moved back over to blogger, which is where I started, but my lovely sunflower heading from my last home had a dark side to it…I made a distressing discovery that the server doesn’t allow me into the code! Now I’m not a techie, but I have learned a few things, one of which is that you want to be able to get into your code for lots of reasons! You can imagine how maddening it was to find out a little late in the game that you don’t have the control you thought you had.

In case you are wondering about the details, so you don’t make the same mistake, it was a WordPress application that was preloaded on my One and One host. There have been good days and bad days at One and One, and lately, more bad days than good. So since my readers have been increasing greatly lately (thanks!!!) I figured I better find a more secure home.

Is Blogger better?

Blogger is easy. I started originally on Blogger and moved to one and one ……….because I thought it would offer more options. Not. So, in reading all the reviews I am just confused even more, but it seems to be the consensus that Word Press has it all. Now there is a caveat: you do need to be fairly tech-savvy to do more than the standard fare, and I am on the edge.

Why am I telling you all this?
I figured if you’re not interested, you have moved on, but I know there are those of you planning to move thru some of these same mountain pathways, and hopefully, you can learn from these same mistakes I have. Despite being an information junkie, it just seems there isn’t any “Step by step-this is how you do it” information …at least not that is open source for anyone and isn’t charging an arm and a leg!

HostGator
I was with HostGator a few years ago, and now I’m back, so sorry I left. The grass is always greener, syndrome. It’s amazing how the best choice is right in front of you, but all the glitz and ads draw you away in search for the host with the most.

I really would like to do a post soon on Host Gator, they really don’t advertise much, and are becoming one of the biggest and the best hosting solutions available, just from their integrity. More on that another time.

So, in short (haha) bear with me as I redecorate and find a good home, suggestions are welcome!
