Recently I came across an ad in Baby Magazine for the Peapod travel bed for babies. I have 5 children under 6, and I wish I had seen this 6 years ago! We don’t often travel very far (for obvious reasons) but we do have MANY family get togethers and would probably have used this at least once a week if we had had this! We always seem to be anywhere but home at nap time, and finding a place and a way to bed down a sleepy baby has not always been easy. And we all know what our kids are like without a nap……

In the past, we have bought extra portable baby beds like this portable crib, but it was big, bulky and took up too much room, and the babies never slept very good in it. This Peapod looks so convenient and much more comfortable and the best part is it’s covered. My kids are used to sleeping in a dark room, and at the relative’s house this isn’t always easy to accomplish, so the cover solves that problem, and could be really useful outside at picnics, etc. Being a bit germ-phobic like my mom, I really like that the pad is machine washable.

Prices
Anyway, it looked like such a neat item to have, I figured they must run at least $100 or more, but was pleasantly surprised to find out they are much less. The best price I found was at the BabyCenter Store, and they are 20% off right now. They also offer free shipping. I found them for close to the same price at Amazon, but the shipping added an extra $10. In the past I have found 10-15% coupon codes for Baby Center Store, but I couldn’t find any current ones. Oh well, 20% off sale is better anyway. I did find a really cute pink one on Amazon, but having twin boys, I think I’ll pass.

Reviews
The reviews I found were very favorable, I didn’t find any that were not happy or had any problems with their Peapod. The only comments were they wish it came with a fitted sheet and they would’ve preferred loops on the ceiling to hang toys from. If you are handy with a sewing machine, (or velcro!) you could solve those pretty easily. Let me know if you have a Peapod and your experiences with it!

Here’s the blip from their website(you have to go there to get the 20% off):

    Hi,
I was searching the internet to find out if there was such a thing as a fitted sheet for the PeaPod Plus. Guess there isn’t! But I see I’m not the only one who wishes there was one. I will probably write to the company and put in the suggestion (hope others have too). Do you know if there is cradle sheet size that would fit? I was thinking of using bed-stays to making a sheet taut. We’re going through an international adoption and thought that the PeaPod Plus would be great!!

  2. 16. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is great blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.

The subtitle of your comment referred to how to stop a panic attack. Even though it was a spam comment (naughty, naughty…) I was disappointed when I clicked the link and it did not connect to the article. I’d love to do a blog post on panic attacks- let me know where your article is (assuming there is one?) and I may connect to it…just leave a comment with the link. Thanks!
