Making Money Online
This week I want to concentrate on ways to make money at home online. Summertime is very different for homeschool moms than it is for moms that have kids in the public school. Summer for moms that have kids home for the next 3 months from public schools find their lives much, much busier. However, the beginning of summer vacation for the homeschool mom is as exhilerating and freeing as it is for the kids! It means lots of extra time…..well, at least in theory! There is always lots to do for any mom, but summer can be a good time to start a home business, if you haven’t already. Children often want to find ways to make money, too, so make it a family project!
I specified making money ONLINE because there are so many ways to make money with your computer, and usually it takes very little start-up. In the early days of homeschooling, if you didn’t have a second car at home, your opportunities for a home business were very limited. So….I am assuming that you have a computer, and a little resourcefulness, your possibilities are endless!
Blogging. You’ve heard about it, but not sure you could make money at it? You have no excuse for not giving it a shot. Unless you are a terrible writer, you can give it a try even while you try other options because it’s free to start, and doesn’t take too much time once you’re set up.
I’m not going to tell you how to get started, because there are several places that have expert advice, and I’m even going to tell you where you can find a video tutorial for setting up a Wordpress blog. Encourage your older children to start one, too, and you all will be making money in no time. If you are starting one that is homeschooling centered, you might even consider going to HomeSchool Blogger.com and start there. They have lots of really nice templates to choose from, and a great community spirit.
Here’s a list of resources to get started with:
