9 Best Places To Find How-To Videos

Moms are known for all the hats they wear: Taxi Driver, Cook, Housekeeper, Landscaper, Nanny, Teacher, Nurse, Advisor, Handyman . . . and the most amazing part of it all? Most of them (us) have taught ourselves how to do most of it.
So how do moms know how to do all these things? Well, I’ve been a mom for over 30 years, and thought I knew what I was doing most of the time…but we all know the truth to that, don’t we? We didn’t have the internet when I was a young married, and often the advice I received from relatives, friends, and magazines was not so good. But we all lived, and muddled through. Trial and error has worked since the dawn of time, but NOW we have the internet!
The internet gives us more choices than ever to find out anything you need to know, and even better, now much of it is on video. From getting ideas from what others have done, to asking questions on forums, the video how-to websites are increasing at a record pace . . . and most of us actually have internet connections now that lets us watch those videos!
One of my favorites is HGTV online, (despite the commercials…) for ideas and projects to keep you busy for a lifetime. YouTube is a little more hit and miss, because often you have to watch several 4-5 min videos to find one that really has what you’re looking for. Of course, there’s all the home stores like Lowes, Home Depot and the like that have a multitude of how-to’s on them, but can you really trust them? We can’t fault them for wanting to design the videos to gain the most in-store sales, can we?
Here’s a list of some sites that I think you’ll find very handy for most anything you want to learn:
Do It Yourself Network has so many helpful videos, you’ll be there forever, beware! I love the series they’re doing on garage organization.
Expertvillage.com- for videos on just about everything!
Everything from growing tomatoes to making a cottage lampshade with things at hand:
Just mommies TV for – you guessed it – all things mom! Also see our post about MomTV!
