Potty Training Boys

Face it, different manuals for different models, right? One size fits all potty chair just doesn’t cut it – unless you have all girls. Raising 3 boys I have stories during those potty training years that would make you cringe, but I would like to maintain my good relationship with my grown sons, sorry (I’ll tell you later….). Rachael (my oldest and only girl, now with 5 of her own under 7)  has twin boys and since she’s our official ‘product tracker’ we were both excited when we found this urinal for toddlers! (We do get excited over the strangest things, I know…)

It’s about time! The best way IMO to potty train any child is to take them in the bathroom with you, and let the imitation instinct do it’s thing. The only problem is, have you ever tried to talk your husband into sitting down while mentoring your little man? I thought so. A convenient stool is the logical solution, but newbies don’t always have time to get everything arranged ahead of time. Just the other day, one of the twins was very proud of himself when he hurriedly ran into the bathroom and stood at the toilet and thoroughly rinsed the front of the bowl! It’s hard to get excited with words of praise with a puddle rapidly running under the cabinet.

So we find this great new gadget (new to us, at least), but the price was almost $50, plus almost $10 shipping + tax. So we checked around and found it at Amazon for $39.99, with free shipping (& no tax as usual). You might like to know there were 53 reviews on the Peter Potty at the time, averaging 4.75 (on a 5.0 scale) stars, and it looks like it’s a hit with everyone that’s bought one so far. Good design, durable workmanship, easy to use and clean, the only complaint was it was a little high for a very young or small (prodigal) learner-although it is adjustable. I also think learning on a home urinal could help the ‘culture shock’ of their first encounter with a public urinal, too.

Let us know if you’ve had experience with the Peter Potty Toddler Urinal
or anything similar you’ve had success with.

Springtime is often inspiration enough to dive into those cleaning projects you’ve been avoiding, but my problem is a little deeper than that. As much as I love a clean house and crave organization, I have difficulty achieving it. So when I found this terrific resource, I thought I’d pass it along.

Most SAHM’s have discovered and love watching HGTV when possible, and I know several that are completely addicted! What most moms haven’t discovered is HGTV’s WEBSITE! Available any time you can grab a minute (or 20!) online, there is a wealth of ideas, pictures, and how-to information on all things HOME, and especially on getting organized and fresh ideas for children’s rooms.

You’ll find great tips like “If you let your children run wild in the living room, chances are they’ll develop bad organizational habits”, and articles such as, How to Teach Organization To Your Kids, and Teach Kids Early How To Stay Organized.   The pictures (even videos!)  of different organized playrooms and kid’s rooms are fun to look at and will give you ideas, and hopefully LOTS of inspiration to joyfully attack that job you’ve been dreading! Have fun!

Hilarious Kid’s Video!

I found this on Kim Komando’s Video of the Day, and had to share it with you! If you haven’t discovered her site yet, it’s well worth taking the time to do so. She has a great website full of helpful links, downloads and techie (techy?) reviews. The daily newsletter I get has a computer tip in it, along with a video of the day, and download of the day. I find the computer tip helpful at least half the time, and have learned a great deal from her!

Caution! HP Photosmart 7460…

This is an update to the post from Sept 08 titled: “The BEST Printer and Ink Deal for Homeschoolers!”

One more thing I wanted you to be sure to notice when you go to Amazon for the HP 7460-
*CAUTION-Amazon lists a vendor’s HP7460, but you want to look on the right (see arrow?)and click on the one that says ‘Amazon’ under “More buying choices” and add that to your cart, (it’s $109.99)-which is only looks like it costs MORE than the one you see from ANT for $105..but the shipping is $27.77 for that (supposedly cheaper!) one! Add the one from Amazon for $109 and shipping is FREE. This option is somewhat hidden…..

Just didn’t want you to accidentally pay too much!

So why would a printer be any better for a homeschooler? Rachael found a feature on her HP 7460 that I missed in the 4 months we’ve had this printer that you’ll love. Straight from the screen on the HP7460, (no computer needed) you can print school paper, manuscripted lines, graph paper, handwriting paper and more! Cool, huh? I realize that if you’re reading this, you probably have a computer, but there are times you may not want to pull up a program to print the paper, etc.

Last I looked, Amazon still has the best price on the HP 7460 and free shipping, but don’t buy your ink there! 4inkjets.com
has an incredible deal that you won’t find anywhere else. First of all, the HP 7460 takes the HP-02 cartridges and are only $6.99 for black cartridges, and $5.99 for color. If that’s not cheap enough, you can buy a box of 3 black cartridges and 2 each of the 5 colors for $59.99. THEN, I found a coupon code for another 10% off, so subtract $6 and your total for 13 ink cartridges for your HP7460 is a whopping $53.99! That’s only $4.15/each and they seem to last forever. 4inkjets.com also offers free shipping for any order over $50…..I love deals like this!

I double checked that the coupon code worked for 4inkjets just before I wrote this. The last time I ordered from them was July and I received my order within 3 days and their customer service was excellent. They guarantee 100% satisfaction and I truly believe they will honor that.
