Doesn’t everyone? Entrepreneur Magazine cited one of the biggest trends predicted in 2009 will be a HUGE surge in the number of home entrepreneurs! They were right, and it’s a trend that is here to stay. High speed internet has enabled a multitude of home business possibilities that wouldn’t have been possible 5 years ago.

We want to list as many genuine ideas and resources for the WAHM as we can find, and report back to you what we find in the forums as to what’s a scam, what’s not, and what’s just plain a waste of time.

Find Real Writing Jobs

My husband relates often the memory of how their family afforded Christmas. He comes from what was in those days considered a large family (5 children). Although they lacked for nothing, they watched every penny and operated on a tight budget. So when Christmas came around, his mom would always get a part-time job at a local store and whatever money she made went for Christmas gifts. Sound familiar?

If you’re thinking about working a part-time job this year to afford Christmas presents, or just need some extra work (!?!) the internet offers more opportunities than ever for making a little extra. The main advantage of working online is the flexible schedule. Considering many retail stores don’t hire PT help anymore, if they do you may be required to work ON the holiday-which is not an option when you have kids. I like the luxury of working whatever time I can squeeze out of the day, be it 4 am or 11 pm, and many moms use the infamous naptime! Online freelance work really is a good fit for the SAHM.

If you can write, some great places to find writing and other online WAH jobs are at GenuineJobs.com. I still can’t believe the great list of authentic work at home jobs they list with NO strings attached (free). The majority of jobs offered have to do with either writing or web design, but includes other, sometimes interesting, types of work. In fact, it’s where I stumbled on this great website where you can register your skills into a master database for writers called Writer’s Access. It’s free to list your writing services, and if you know SEO, it’s a HUGE plus. If you happen to need a writer, it’s also free to post a job.

Out of all the letters from Santa sites, how do you choose which one to trust with this year’s memory? I’m sure there are many other great Santa letter sites, but here at Momma’s Choice, we tend to trust moms that work at home. First of all, hopefully they are working hard to set a good work example for her kids, which we all know tend to absorb so much more just by watching us! Secondly, WAHM’s really do try harder, it’s just how we are.
